Panoramic Tour by Motor launch
Excursion DescriptionWords cannot adequately describe the majesty of Venice as it is
revealed from its most dramatic perspective, the water.
On this excursion you will:
- Depart the ship and cruise along the Giudecca Canal with the
enchanting view of St. Mark’s basin.
- Cruising towards the Lido, a long strip of land dividing the
lagoon of Venice from the Adriatic Sea and which is a famous
summer resort, the launch will enter the northern part of the
lagoon.
- See the Arsenal, the old shipyard of the "Serenissima"
Republic, and the ancient church of San Pietro di Castello, the
city’s cathedral until the beginning of the 19th century.
- Coasting the typical western districts of Castello and
Cannaregio, with the long stretch called "Fondamente Nuove", the
launch will pass the island of San Michele and the Venice
cemetery, leading you to the island of Murano, renowned for its
blown glass products.
- As the launch points back towards Venice’s center, it will
coast the Island of the Armenians, famous for its ancient
monastery, before approaching again St. Mark’s basin, with a
splendid view of St. George’s Island and St. Mark’s Square.
NOTE: Dependent upon which pier the ships docks at, there may be
an approximate 400m walk back to the ship. The launches used for
this excursion are not wheelchair accessible and do not have
restroom facilities on board. The launches are double decker and
offer both inside and outside seating.
Due to operational reasons, this excursion may operate in
reverse, but all sights described will be visited.
An optional drop off in St Marks Square will be given at the end
of excursion. If taken, transportation back to the ship will be on
your own.
